L’EU réduit son emprunte carbone

Greenhouse gas emissions generated by the European Union’s economic activities, namely production activities (agriculture, manufacturing, transport, electricity and gas supply, etc.) and household consumption (heating, transport, etc.), amounted to 3.5 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalents in 2020, according to data published on Monday 10 January by the EU’s statistics office Eurostat.

This represents a decrease of 9% compared to 2019 and 24% compared to 2008.

The activity with the highest emissions in 2020 was manufacturing (21% of the total), followed by electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (also 21%) and all household activities (20%). It should be noted that these are emissions from EU-based businesses and households.
